Typical Oregon. Lucky that the resorts that are here don’t have the option of moving. Or they would/should. The failure of House bill 1196 (Liability Waiver reform) is an embarrassment for those that govern Oregon.

Sliding down the mountain by any means is not without inherent risk. Those that participate in these activities should assume the risk that is involved in these activities. The fact that there are times when our industry is held responsible for participants egregious mistakes (hitting a tree) puts a chilling effect on the entire industry.

Skibowl shutting down their entire downhill park because of being held responsible for the crash of a rider should serve as a wakeup call. Our resorts should not be taken for granted. They are for profit enterprises, and if there is no profit, there is no industry.

Oregon is strangely underrated as a destination or for their resorts in general (on a national/international stage), that should change. With world class snow and many, many days of untracked deep powder Oregon can do a better job of demonstrating to the outdoor enthusiasts of what a base of 33 feet of snow looks like in person.
